quick update....

I'd forgotten that I'd originally named this quilt "Swirling Leaves" when I first started making it... and throughout my blog I've called it "Autumn Leaves"! Anyway - last night finished the quilting, sewed on the binding and sewed in all the loose threads, left to do is hand stitch the binding down.... phew nearly finished :)

Today's project is to finish the Stonestead Tablerunner challenge, get the groceries and take Diesel for a run.

I promise to load photos once the three projects that are on the timeline are finished :)

Catchup on WIPs

Hello...

Finally I've got the "Swirling Leaves/Autumn Quilt" off the chair and re-united with the sewing machine... have finally started quilting... I've traced the leaf design onto the golden paper - which is so good to stitch over, then rips away (though remember to rip gently!)...

And then at Quilt club meeting today, I finished another of the Gail Pan BOM blocks, am really enjoying stitching these, and everyone comments on how good they look (the design that is!).

One of our club members who is an OT gave a great talk on exercises to relief the aches and pains from long periods of sewing at the machine, hand quilting etc, along with showing correct height for your ironing board, sitting at your sewing machine etc. Was a great talk. Got home from Club just after 4pm and quickly chucked on the bike gear, and headed out for a quick 20km ride (took just over an hour) to make the most of finally a fine day!

Hmm, Miss Bella is not looking too impressed with all the cuddles she's been getting lately !

Tomorrow Mum, Dad and Sis in law are coming over for the day, after they've had a reviving cuppa, Mum and Sis in Law, along with DD1 and myself are hitting the recycle clothing shops, we haven't done the rummage through the racks for a few months so we're looking forward to finding some bargains. I got a head start on them and went to one on Friday in Cuba Mall and picked up a MAX long sleeved blouse, perfect condition for $10 !

A few things I've been working on...

I've been quietly working away on a few things - now this Christmas stitchery is to give me a head start for this year - I believe I found this pattern somewhere in blog-land and I'm so sorry I can't acknowledge the creator. Have made note to self ..."in future note down the blogsite and creator" ...


I've started working on a lovely Mill Hill cross-stitch that also involves little bead work in the borders - the 'cloth' is like a fine plastic and is not that easy to stitch at night - and need to concentrate so only a little progress on this...

I read Nicola's Daisies regularly and Nicola talks about her collection of 'weekend skirts' - this got me thinking about creating my own supply - here's one from local thrift shop - great score $6.95 ... I've found some other great buys in the local thrift shops too, however haven't taken any pics :(


Then I picked up this fabric from Arthur Toye on sale for $6/mtr so have cut out this skirt to make... ohh I think Nicola, you've got me started on something - have been so used to wearing jeans all the time around home in the weekends - am loving the 'weekend skirt' ... so much so am venturing into wearing them to work instead of the plain black I'm so prone to wear - its really quite refreshing !!

Have also done a little quilting on "Autumn Leaves" - have worked on detailing the batik leaves and now at a standstill while I work out how to machine quilt the background...

Catching up on some WIPs...

Today has been a great day for making some decent progress on some quilts in waiting ...

First up is the "autumn leaves" this is based on a pattern called October from Keepsake Quilting

Finished making the scrappy border out of all the bits...

...then finished cutting out the leaves, threw the leaves onto the quilt and then moved them around and sought Kait's artistic eye for placement, pinned then ironed the leaves down ready to machine stitch...

Holly cat has given her approval, so the top is now ready to make a backing and sandwich before I start machine stitching the leaves then the fun part of quilting...

Next in line was the Blue Star blocks that I won from Club yonks ago (April 2007) in the monthly BOM... I've joined these together and am about to search the free font sites for letters & numbers to enlarge to then 'stick' onto the quilt top ready for stitching (am going to turn this into a baby quilt for a friend who is expecting)...

Yay feel like am making some progress.. so tomorrow fingers crossed the rain will still be pouring, the housework can wait just a little longer, and I can keep working on these... Oh I have been working steadily away at night on the Butterfly Garden BOM that I've started - will post pics soon as nearly completed all the applique on Block 1 - phew applique is hard work - for me who is usually a fast and furious machine quilter...
